Frequently Asked Questions

How is Net Run Rate calculated?
NRR = (Runs scored ÷ Overs faced) − (Runs conceded ÷ Overs bowled). A positive NRR means your team scored faster than it conceded. It is used to separate teams level on points in tournament group stages.
What is a good NRR?
Any positive NRR is good. In major ICC tournaments an NRR above +1.0 is considered strong. Teams that win by large margins or restrict opponents to low scores accumulate better NRRs.
Does NRR accumulate across matches?
Yes. NRR in a tournament is cumulative — all runs and overs across every group stage match are added before dividing. A single big win or heavy defeat can significantly shift the overall NRR.
What if a team is bowled out before overs are complete?
If a team is bowled out, the full over allocation is used in the NRR calculation. For example, bowled out in 18 overs of a T20 means 20 overs is used for NRR purposes, not 18.
